Sensei,

I'm fairly new to MTBiking, and wanted to know if there's any way I could increase the travel from 80mm to 100mm – my bike has SR Suntour XCM (coil spring, with preload adjuster and HLO). To be precise, it's the one that Specialized claims to have customized (multi-level damping).

I should probably just go ahead and buy a new fork but I'm a student and live on a shoestring!

Thanks.

Looks like you could change the springs and the wee support tubes (as the 80 100 120 all use the same outer body)but by the time you had tracked down parts and paid for them it will probably be cheaper (and a HECK of s lot easier) to just buy new.
XCMs are fairly low end forks so I can't imagine them being that dear
If money is so tight it is squeeking just live with the 80mm travel.
